Raining in Santiago...

Seems to be a pattern emerging here... rain...

We arrived safely in Santiago after a 13-hour or thereabouts flight via a short stopover in Auckland.  It took 2-hours to get through the visa reciprocal queue (to pay a fee of US$61 each) then passport control followed by customs.  No probs though, it was just that we needed to wait patiently as we made our way to the front of the queue.

Collected by our transfer driver, Carlos we arrived at our B&B accommodation in the Provedencia area of Santiago.  We had a light dinner at a cafe around the corner and it was here that we really got a chance to practice what little Espanol we can speak - thanks to word memory, the phrasebook, sign language and help from a local Chilean who spoke some English we ordered a great toasted sandwich and smoothie (this we learned does not include fresh fruit, rather is made with fruit flavoured ice-cream and natural yoghurt) - all was delicious.

No photos today.  It's now time to get used to the time zone difference, off to bed when we'd be normally getting up.  We are 10-hours behind Melbourne time.
